Prevention of Adultery

When in a relationship, one should always make sure that there will always be time for intimacy between each other. No matter how old a person is, as long as there is a little romance being conducted, the chances of ones partner cheating will significantly decrease.  Along with paying attention to each other in a relationship, communicating will effectively aid in solving the conflicts that will arise. If the relationship is to be successful, under no circumstances can one can give up on the other person. Once tensions have risen and both individuals in the relationship do not care to make a difference, that is when communication is most needed. Furthermore, if it is not carried out, there is a higher percentage chance of a partner succumbing to having an affair.

 After

Adultery Occurs

Once the issue of adultery is exposed in a relationship, the conflicts that arise are often times unable to be solved. This is where marriage counselling/couples therapy can be very effective if the couple wishes to save their marriage/relationship. The counselling will aid in resolving the present conflicts and help improve the relationship. In Canada, statistics have shown that 31% of couples that have done therapy do not end up divorcing (Ellis).

The Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy was founded in 1995 to promote the practice of couple and marriage therapy. This organization was established in order for people to benefit by attaining the proper help to construct the issues in their life. There are 6 provinces in which the organization has been spread out to: British Colombia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec (which includes all the Atlantic Provinces). Providing their assistance nation wide, this organization is providing a solution for those who are in need of marital strengthening assistance (CAMFT).

My Solution

The government should help raise awareness about the issues that accompany a divorce and solutions that are provided. Marriage counselling is not cheap and is not covered under the health benefits provided by employers. That is why most people make the decision to divorce without even considering a therapist who potentially could help solve the issues between a couple. Granted there is only 31%  of couples that go through counselling that remain together, however if more people choose to atleast attempt a couple of sessions, it could be of great benefit. As stated throughout the article, many social and economic downfalls come from couples divorcing. Researchers have estimated that a 30% increase in income is needed for individuals to maintain the same standard of living prior to a divorce (Waite & Gallagher). Not only that, but often times the custody owner of the child(ren) from a divorce does not get payed the full payment of child support. From a child's perspective, they will often times grow up in a non-idealistic environment, and therefore have greater potential to become an unsuccessfull citizen.

Adultery will never diminish in any society, however what can be done to help the economy from the potential events that follow this act is for the government to make sure that employers give their employees the needed benefits of marriage counselling. The minimum amount of money that should be provided is $500 so that a couple may atleast experience a few sessions throughout the year if they wish. This in turn will help couples to try and work things out, and if they beleive it is working for them, they can continue paying the rest of the fee's once the insurance no longer covers it.

The government has to play a part because as long as the increase of adultery occurs, the increase in divorces will match. Furthermore, all the negative financial and social effects that come with a divorce has an impact on the economy; which is the governments job to protect and further develop.
